Throgout
my life, I have done several travels to Cuenca, an amazing Spanish
city. Since you arrive at this beautiful place you can see the union
of culture and life, of History and an energetic “today”,
surrounded of Art. In the town centre there are many museums, parks,
cafés, the river Júcar (which is always full of ducks, fishes and
crayfishes), shops, and, specially, terrific views of the mountains,
old buildings and nature. The breathtaking scenery is always present,
accompanied by open spaces, steep hills and cliffs.
On
the other hand, it is necessary to talk about the population, who is
very nice and numerous. Related with this we find the Gastronomy. A
few delicious examples are “ajoarriero” and “morteruelo”.
About the nightlife, Cuenca is full of bars (with smoker areas) and,
frequently, there are concerts and another kind of fantastic events.
Cuenca
is also full of churches and beautiful places. A great example is the
Cathedral of our lady of Grace and Saint Julian. We also need to talk
about the Holy Week Processions, which are very important and
spectacular. Another important things of this town are the famous
hanging houses or the Enchanted City and its curious rocks.
Nevertheless,
what I like the most of Cuenca is that is full of green, nature and
life. It is a great place for keep photographers and for people who
like high altitude trekking. The sightseers will enjoy doing trips to
this unspoilt parts, but they will have to remember that is not
permitted dump rubbish and/or smoke. These places are full of all
kind of trees and vegetation, accompanied by its wildlife. I won't
forget the day when a fox stole us (to my group) a leaf of bread.
When
you prepare your travel arrangements for going on holidays, I
recommend you, if you feel like having adventures, going to a treeky
holiday in Cuenca. If you go in Winter or Autumn, don't forget a
windproof coat and a pair of boots.
Safe
journey!
